Health Ministries
Health Ministries is not only about assisting our members with living healthier, happier lives; it is also about reaching out to the surrounding community.
From demonstrating healthy principles at our Sabbath potluck to offering seminars on smoking cessation and stress free living we want to provide lots of ways for people to lead healthy and happy lives.
Health Ministries
Health ministries are an integral part of the mission of the Adventist Church. “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God” (I Cor. 10:31). Health ministry is the gospel of Christ illustrated, the message of God practiced. Without it, the gospel witness is muted; it is merely a theory, an idea.
The most important objective of health ministry at EMMANUEL FRENCH SDA CHURCH is to help men and women of our church and of the community of HUNTINGTON reach their full potential, mentally, spiritually and physically. To reach full potential, health principles must be practiced.
The ministry to which a person is called when he or she becomes the
health ministries leader can be described in the following ways:
Health promotion. Keeping church members and the community at large aware of the importance of health and educating new members on the significance of health and temperance is one of the major responsibilities of the health ministries leader.
Continuing health education. There is a question asked in the New Testament, “How can they learn without a teacher?” This is especially true regarding the health education of new church members. The health ministries leader is responsible for the health education of the new members in the Adventist lifestyle.
Committees. The health ministries leader is the chairperson health ministries committee, and a member of the church board and the church ministries council.
Program development. Everywhere Adventists are known as providers of stop smoking plans, cooking schools, and seminars on nutrition, heart disease, stress management, cancer prevention, physical fitness, weight control and the Bible basis for healthful living, as well as screening projects for high blood pressure, coronary heart disease and other health problems.

How can I Take Health Ministries to a New Level
Taking Health Ministries to a New Level
“During His ministry, Jesus devoted more time to healing the sick than to preaching.”
Ministry of Healing, page 19
“The Savior made each work of healing an occasion for implanting divine principles in the mind and soul. This was the purpose of His work.”
Ministry of Healing, page 20
“Every church should be a training school for Christian workers… there should be schools of health, cooking schools, and classes in various lines of Christian help work.”
Ministry of Healing, page 149
“We shall see the medical missionary work broadening and deepening at every point of its progress, because of the inflowing of hundreds and thousands of streams, until the whole earth is covered as the waters cover the sea.”
Ellen G. White
